More BBC

BBC was a blast. The week was full of entertaining, silly, fun activities...as all good family vacations should be.

We got in a hike on the Limber Pine trail.

"Girls Day Out" and pedicure night
Beach Days an ultimate frisbee in the water.
Bunco Night on the porch

Talent Show and Fijian Dance
Lots of playing with all the cute grandkids!
Full use of the indoor gym/playground/trampoline/putting green area.
and of course a ride on a 4-person pedaling bike

and murder mystery night... (next post)

I do not take credit for any of the above pictures. I only have documentation because of Rachel and Stacey. Thanks girls!

Family!

Isn't my family adorable? This is our latest and greatest family photo.
I just got to spend a whole week with my entire family, which I only get to do about every 2 years. We call it BBC, which stands for Biennial Bondage Camp, lovingly named because of a running family joke that capitalizes on a slip of the tongue I had when a young teenager. We were vacationing in Yellowstone, staying in a cabin that had no electricity (thus making it hard to play games-which is our normal pastime when together). We were all sitting around one night talking and one of my siblings got bored and asked why we weren't "doing" anything. I curtly replied "We are! It's called family bondage" (rather than bonding). They all laughed hysterically and have never forgotten.
Stay tuned for more posts about our activities at our latest BBC.

I'm an Ice Cream Snob

If you're going to eat it...it had better be worth the calories. That means "only the hard stuff" for me. Rich, high-fat, hard enough you can chew, with lots of chunks. That's right. Usually that means Ben and Jerry's. Because it is soooo good and filling that a 1/2 cup is usually enough.

My favorite flavor is "Everything But The..."
It used to be S.N.A.F.U. but they stopped making it. I have no idea why. It now rests with other retired flavors in Ben and Jerry's Flavor Graveyard (an actual place on a hill just by the Ben and Jerry's factory in Vermont). Yes, I have even been there. I'm serious about my ice cream.
Anyway, it's pretty funny: they write poems about the flavors that didn't make it. They have a virtual graveyard at www.benandjerrys.com/fun/halloween

I proudly wear my Ben and Jerry's apron when I cook. It's only fair to support the ice cream that calms down hormones, cramps and just makes life seem better when you're feeling down.

I actually had a day off of work (July 5th). Ben (the handsome fellow seen here) and I went on a great hike behind Bountiful to this huge rock that honestly looked like a statue of Aslan from far away. It was beautiful and a perfect get-away-from-the-world activity for a day off. I'm soooo ready for a real vacation.
